Obama Voters

So, if Obama wins, I'll associate anyone who voted for him with these imbeciles. OK, not really, but I'll think that he won by having more imbeciles backing him. These guys are probably too dumb to get to the voting center.

Fireplace Stonework

Additional work's been done since we were last in. Below is the family room/downstairs main fireplace. For now, we'll have the wall above painted, and probably add stone down the line. The hearth stone coloring looks a little lighter than actual, with a lot of dust covering everything right now

The great room fireplace looks great, and we're happy with the stonework around the fireplace itself. The hearth stone turned out well. It's about 3 inches thick and the weighs about 1000 lbs. The first shot below is a view from the kitchen to the great room. Below that Lori helps give it scale.

The mudroom tiling uses the same material for back splash as the flooring, the fossil stone. The granite matches up great, and the listello border is also fossil stone with glass accent. A granite piece will fit across the divider between the sink counter and the dogwash, and across the front of the dogwash.

The counter that tops the divider from the kitchen and great room was custom fit. It turned out nicely and has that thick slab look. We were considering putting corbels underneath, but like it enough the way it is. It should really dress up with stain and waterproofing.

Slowly Getting There

The trim work is still going on. Mostly just small stuff. The bar has been finished up, and they are working on a thick wood counter space between the kitchen and great room. Haven't seen it yet. It was fitted and taken to the shop for a final sanding.

The piece above is an anchor piece, and the final counter fits over it. We had a debate about the shape. The edges will be rounded, and so far we like the idea.
In the hallway, the hutch had a few touches added, trim over the top, molding, and a rounded overhang above the open top.

The stonework has finally started over the fireplace. The hearthstones were delivered, and capstone for the columns. The color looks good and should look great once the wood is stained.

They tried to install the front door. Unfortunately, one of the sidelights got dropped and broke apart, apparently into a gazillion pieces. That's been remade and is currently being stained. The part that's in looks good.

Teddy is growing fast. When we got him 4 weeks ago he weighed 7 pounds, and he's currently at 19. We started puppy training school, and he seems smart and is picking up commands fast.

Sunday drive running errands and out to the house.

Max seems to be getting along well, although occasionally gets annoyed.

The weather changes tonight. Hopefully the garden will keep. It's been looking nice for a fall garden.
