Soapstone

Lori and I went for a drive to CO Springs yesterday to look at soapstone samples for the kitchen countertops. It's neat stuff with less upkeep than granite, but some limited coloring. However, it should fit in well with the decor and cabinet coloring.
We have some samples to mull over.

This one is called light green Brazilian. Likely, it will go on the perimeter countertops. It has dark green and charcoal hues. The perimeter cabinets coloring is pictured as well.

This is vermont slate. It looks lighter here with the flash, but has green hues and is more uniform in color. This would go on the island if we decide to go with it. It will sit on alder cabinets with black highlights (dark lights?).

Front door's frame is in

The "rough" door will eventually be changed out. Sidelights are on either side where the plywood is. There will be 15 inch panels over where the white wrap is now. To give some perspective, the door is almost 9 feet high.
